ALL NIGHT SOLSTICE GONG PUJA
Jun

to Jun 21

ALL NIGHT SOLSTICE GONG PUJA

SUMMER SOLSTICE SOUND JOURNEY

We start the evening with some gentle yoga nidra, guitar music and breath work to induce relaxation. The gongs will be played by Tim and Sarah for 7.5 hours and ending at around 6.15am. After coming back to yourself and consciousness there will be a silent walk around the garden for those that would like this and then we go to the fire pit where there is the chance to do some drumming or to continue walking around the meadows.

A cooked breakfast will be served around 7am (including vegetarian option) . The bath is a wonderful opportunity to relax, release, lucid dream, let go and surrender to the vibrations. Re-charge and leave feeling refreshed, liberated and energised.

The vibrations of the Gongs are an effective way to enter the Theta State. Theta waves help to reduce blood pressure, relieve stress and stimulate the immune system. 20 minutes of Theta Relaxation is the equivalent to four hours sleep.
An all night gong bath (we play only gongs unlike the weekly gong baths where we start with a variety of percussion instruments) can realign our natural vibration and allow us to experience a higher state of awareness. You may notice that your hearing is heightened by the morning and you pick up on bird song, leaves on the trees and other noises that are in the garden and water meadows.

Open to everyone. £50. Please bring extra padding if you need it- mats, blankets, bolsters and eye masks are provide but you may benefit from an airbed, duvet and extra cushions. Please book.

TRANCE DANCE: JANUARY- MARCH DATES

10:15 AM10:15

TRANCE DANCE: JANUARY- MARCH DATES

Held once a month on a Sunday morning this next morning will be an opportunity to get temperatures rising in this coldness. Maximum number 14.

This is a powerful ritual designed to foster self-exploration and transformation through music and movement.

“The sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being” - Carl Jung

Trance Dance is a unique blend of body movement, healing sounds, dynamic percussive rhythms, transformational breathing techniques and the innovative use of a blindfold or bandana - which together stimulate a 'trance' state that promotes spiritual awakenings, mental clarity, physical stamina and emotional well-being.

Driven by unique musical soundtracks recorded specifically for this method of healing, Trance Dance takes participants on an 'inner journey' not limited to our normal perceptions of space/time. Ritual trance journeys have been a vital part of shamanic and eastern dance cultures for thousands of years. Our contemporary approach to Trance Dance brings together the richness of these ancient rituals with some startlingly effective modern techniques.
Trance Dance's primary focus is on healing and spiritual evolution. By dancing within the seclusion of darkness participants discover parallel realities where solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems are possible. Through Trance Dance we disappear, becoming more like spirit, and simultaneously less attached to life's ordinary difficulties, making it possible at these moments to let these problems go.   £17/session. Please wear comfortable clothes. It will be in bare feet and the floor is heated.

PAST DATES: 1st December and 7th January, 4th February

Cheryl will be running another Mindfulness course this autumn. The garden will still used when appropriate and as the evenings draw in, a fire pit will be there to warm your body after a walks around the grounds. The course is inside and the room is very warm. It explores various aspects of mindfulness practice using a structured approach and is experiential – learning is based on participants becoming aware of their direct experiences thinking of them differently. Skills will be taught to deal with difficult moments and techniques in utilising beneficial states of mind to overcome the mind’s natural bias towards negative experiences and thinking.

These 2.5 hour classes have both formal and informal exercises and you will learn meditation practices. The benefits of a group are the discussions where we can share our experiences. The course is non-religious and no previous experience of meditation is necessary. A work book and a number of CD’s for continued home practice are provided. In order to change old habits and patterns of behaviour there is a need to commit to practicing new approaches on a regular basis.

Benefits:

  • Increased emotional resilience to help you deal with stress more effectively

  • Greater ability to focus the mind and increase attention

  • Increased enjoyment and enthusiasm for life

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a mind-body based approach that allows us to fully experience our lives, moment by moment. Being present in this way enables us to be more aware of the pleasant events of our lives as they occur. Mindfulness also helps us to deal with the stressful and challenging times more skilfully.

By developing these practices we can learn to live our lives in the present moment rather than thinking too much about the past or worrying and feeling anxious about the future. In other words, the ability to enjoy your life more, today.

The cost of the course in £160 to include workbook and CD's. Please visit www.mindfulnessinsalisbury.co.uk for further information and feedback or contact Cheryl on 07530931655, info@mindfulnessinsalisbury.co.uk

Biodanza Workshop

Following on from the workshop on 20th May and ongoing on the third Saturday of the month, Verónica Perez, writes: 'The summer solstice is a time of rebirth, or strengthening our will, we can connect with the forces of nature to support us in our path. To unfold our inner capacity to develop our potential, to reconnect with the infinite possibilities of growing and evolving from our true selves, from our essence. At each age we receive the grace of new visions and new growth. All moments of our existence have an intrinsic value that we could learn to discover and unveil all of them''. If you are planning to come please let Verónica know so she has an idea of numbers.

Biodanza was created in the 60s by Rolando Toro, a Chilean psychologist and anthropologist. It can be described as a system of human development based on the belief that the desire for positive life changes can motivate people to develop their highest human qualities and potentials.

The word Biodanza has two parts, bios (life) and danza (meaningful movement). Biodanza is the possibility of dancing our own lives, of bringing music, rhythm, harmony and emotion into our communities and  personal lives. Biodanza is different from conventional dance because it’s a guided discipline that stimulates specific aspects of human potential, such as creativity, affection, vitality, and so forth, through different sets of movement to music exercises. The Biodanza workshop is open to everyone who would like to experience it, either for beginners, or for those who wish to carry on practising. Previous dance experience is not necessary.

Create your own singing bowl

Joanie Solaini making one of her many bowls at a workshop.

This is Alchemy.

It appears straightforward.  Anyone can do this.

Cut. File. Pound (pound, pound). Polish. Yet, you know from your reaction to the sound from a handmade singing bowl that this is something else.  Maybe you paused and sank into wonder; perhaps even slipped a little closer to your essential self.  So you know, there is something else going on.

It could be your bowl.  You could spiral in and spiral out, diving down and coming up—just hammering (hammering, hammering).  Making your own treasure, engaging in the process, exploring the craft.  It’s an expansive weekend.  And those who have pounded before you know:  while you make the bowl, the bowl makes you.

Finding your authentic voice with Livia Barbosa

Saturday 16th July: 10am - 5pm and Sunday 17th July: 9.30am - 4.30pm.

This weekend workshop will help you find your true voice, the naturally expressed and unselfconscious part of you. Many of us have yet to find our voice and thus our truth, feeling embarrassed to sing or believing that we cannot.  It can be hidden and undiscovered.  We all have an authentic sound and when naturally expressed, it is our unique sound. Enhancing our voice can be a joy and very empowering. Livia will explore our voices, guiding us through a collective self-discovery where we connect with the deepest levels of our wisdom.

£200/weekend. Includes lunch. Accomodation is at an additional costs but there are rooms at the house for a small fee. Supper is a joint contribution.

Please book early as places are limited - Livia will also give indivdual tuition sessions.

About Livia: Livia Barbosa is dedicated to voice therapy - both the singing and talking voice. In recent years, as well as pursuing her professional singing career as a Jazz singer, she has worked with sound in a much wider spectrum. Using Gongs, Bowls and Voice in teaching and harmonisations and harnessing the vibration of the Gong to awaken proprioception (body/posture awareness) in patients with voice problems, and those that would like a deeper connection with the sounds they produce. A professional jazz singer/teacher, she embraces improvisation and composition with passion and scholarship. Working all over the country with great success she continues to live and work in her native city of Buenos Aires Argentina.  A graduate from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino, where she graduated as a Speech and Voice therapist, Livia works with different methods including Yoga, Eutony, Shiatsu, Reiki, Functional Voice Pedagogy (Rabine Method) and Matthias Alexander to explain how the voice is produced (anatomically and physiologically) and how it is affected by our emotions and feelings.

Frame Drumming Workshop with Tim Byford

The beautiful resonant frame drum is considered to be one of the oldest instruments on the planet.

Its full bodied sound means that it is ideally suited to being used as a solo instrument, as an accompaniment to voice, in a group of drums or as an accompanying instrument to small musical ensembles.

This introductory workshop is ideally suited to beginners, whether as a stand alone experience or a gateway to deeper study.

You will learn:

·      the fundamental hand stokes from the Middle Eastern/North African Tradition.

·    playing with others to create rhythms.

·      working with the drum musically.

·      simple rhythmic patterns and how to achieve fluency.

Research indicates drumming can produce a range of surprising psychological and physiological benefits including stress reduction, strengthening of the immune system and even higher IQ.

More anecdotally drum practitioners report that playing the drums is highly enjoyable.

Tim Byford Started playing drums in his teens. He is a Music Graduate and currently works as a community musician, teacher and sound healer.

Cost: £35        Drums and refreshments provided.
