GONG BATHS ARE NOW HELD EVERY SUNDAY.
DURING JULY THERE WILL ONLY BE 2 GONG BATHS. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY GONG BATHS IN AUGUST. THESE START AGAIN AS WEEKLY SESSIONS ON SEPTEMBER 9TH.
THERE ARE TWO SESSIONS 5PM AND 7PM.
A Gong Bath induces a state of spontaneous meditation and relaxation that facilitates the movement of chi - positive life energy. This sound therapy promotes vitality, healing and awakens the consciousness for transformation because it affects the physical nervous system, not just hearing it through the ears, but the sensation of feeling it on the skin. Sound travels and the body picks up sound. It is a cleansing process for the subconscious mind and requires no effort on the part of the bather who often experiences a sense of connectedness and deep relaxation. The sound of the gongs have the potential to clear blockages and restore the flow of vital energy throughout the body and can help the parasympathetic nervous system -- the resting, digesting nervous system, which typically we do not nurture. It trains our nervous system to easily be able to get back into a place of peace.
Bath refers to being bathed in sound waves and involves lying down on a mat with a cushion for your head. There is under-floor heating so you will not be cold. The gongs are played softly and over the course of the session the volume ebbs and flows with changes in the playing technique. Alpha brainwave state (8-12Hz) -daydreaming, imagination and associate thinking is quickly followed by Theta brainwave state (4-7Hz) - dreaming sleep, REM, deep relaxation. It is deeply relaxing and a wonderful way to start the week.
After playing the gongs and other instruments during a 50 minute session, the playing gently slows as it fades into silence. This is a time to reconnect with yourself before slowly beginning to move and sit up. Herb teas and refreshments to follow.
