This class combines two complementary practices - yin yoga and myofascial release. Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, passive form of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. The postures are held for an extended period ( 3-5 minutes or more) with relaxed muscles. The emphasis is on stillness and surrender. Yin yoga helps improve flexibility, joint mobility, and the flow of energy (chi) through the body’s meridians.
By adding myofascial release towards the end of the class through the use of balls, rollers and straps we target fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. It can help alleviate muscle pain, improve range of motion, and enhance overall mobility.
The two practices can improve the body’s overall flexibility and mobility while addressing areas of chronic tension and discomfort. It’s important to approach both Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release mindfully and adapt them to your individual needs and abilities – modifications are always offered. Come along and give it a try! We end the class with a short yoga Nidra to deeply relax you.
